Production Pottery:

  • Throw, hand build and finish the assigned pottery pieces in a timely manner at our standing wheels
  • Maintain the finesse of each piece while striving to throw more efficiently to maximize quantity and quality of production run
  • Train alongside the master potters to achieve consistency across the product line
  • Maintain a clean and safe studio environment by adhering to our cleaning procedures and schedules
  • Once trained, load and unload kilns on a regular or rotating basis
  • Studio potters are a part of the overall production process and team - as part of the production team, there may be a need to help within different areas of the department: glazing, waxing, etc.
  • Any other duties as required

Customer Interactions:

  • Embracing the open studio and responding to customer questions and comments appropriately and with enthusiasm
  • Educating the customer about the Farmhouse Pottery brand and production technique
  • Maintaining tidy work space during open studio hours to improve customer experience

Wheel Workshops:

These are personal workshops with our potters where we teach participants how to throw pottery and guide an interactive experience. Guests get the chance to create their very own artisan souvenir which we finish and ship to them. Workshops are available twice a day and are assigned to our master potters on a rotating basis.

  • Upon completion of proper training, teach wheel workshops as scheduled to the FHP standard
  • Set up and break down of wheel workshop equipment and supplies
  • Fill out wheel workshop paperwork properly and write thank you card
  • Trim and finish workshop pieces and get them in queue for the kilns

Requirements:

  • Prior throwing experience; candidates will show their wheel skills in an interview
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to work 40+ hours a week, possibly including weekends

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently carry, raise or lower objects up to 40 pounds from one level to another regularly
  • Remain on feet in upright position for continuous periods of time
  • Walk throughout building, including up and down stairs and outside
  • Exerting force up to 40 pounds on a regular basis so object is moved towards or away from team member
  • Good hand-eye coordination and hand strength
  • Regularly reaching for, grasping and/or picking up objects
  • Bending forward by bending at waist or bending legs and spine

Production Pottery:

  • Train alongside your assigned studio potter to learn how to throw, hand build and finish the basic forms that represent a major and quintessential part of our product line
  • Maintain the finesse of each piece while striving to throw more efficiently to maximize quantity and quality of production run
  • Develop skills to achieve consistency and produce assigned pieces in a timely manner at our standing wheels

Studio Operational Support:

  • Maintain a clean and safe studio environment by adhering to our cleaning procedures and schedules
  • If needed, train in and assist with other areas of production such as glazing, waxing, or loading and unloading of kilns
  • Accurate recording of output against work orders
  • Where appropriate, assist with safety-related tasks
  • Where appropriate, assist with maintenance of studio equipment
  • Any other duties as required

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of production/manufacturing experience - no pottery experience necessary - we will train the right people!
  • Demonstrable ability to follow instructions and adhere to product specifications
  • Technical proficiency
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to work 40+ hours a week, including weekends

Location: Woodstock, VT

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8AM - 4:00PM, occasional overtime
Reports to: Operations and Inventory Manager

Farmhouse Pottery is seeking warehouse support in our distribution center in Woodstock, VT. This distribution and warehouse support role is responsible for packing all online orders for all Farmhouse Pottery goods.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Process, cross check and safely package customer orders.
  • Box and ship orders safely using up to date software and different shipping materials.
  • Pack product for transportation between the two FHP facilities.
  • Unpack totes to restock shelves.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
  • Train on picking and prepping orders for shippers as backup when needed.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to adapt

  • Capable of following written instructions and documented procedures
  • Team player who works productively with a wide range of people
